My dear Colonel,

[[passage marked "omit]]
Your two good letters of June 18th, and 20th, reached me here together, day before yesterday and gave me much pleasure.
From ^[[what]] you wrote and from what Watson said in a recent cablegram, I think that Frank must be improving as rapidly as could be hoped and with good prospects of regaining the use of her injured side. I am glad you decided to continue operations at Yaeger, it would have been unfortunate, I think, to have delayed them. [[/passage marked "omit"]] I find Munich rather colorless after Italy

P.S. Louise and I met Gari Melchers quite unexpectedly in the International Exhibition here last Saturday. He is in charge of the American Dept. and is looking finely.
