My dear Colonel: 
We landed at Liverpool on Saturday last at 11 o'clock AM, and I found Mr. Chapman on the dock awaiting me - He insisted on 'putting me up" with his intimate friend and business partner Mr Shield,[[strikethrough]]I[[/strikethrough]] whose house [[insertion]]is[[/insertion]] in the center of Liverpools residential quarter. I reluctantly accepted, but in the end was delighted! He (Mr Shield) is a splendid specimen
