madly. Going from tree to tree within an area of at least 50 sq. yds. Singing in each tree. Area of rather high but not very dense, obviously record growth scrub. When first seen it was in a tree 30 ft. high. Also in same tree was a pair of [[underlined]]Conirostruus[[?]][[/underlined]]. New birds are the real [[underlined]] ferrigiuieiventre[[?]][[/underlined]], I think.
Number XLVII, [[underlined]not[[/underlined] XLVI. I shall call them the Blue & Chestnut Cones", and the XLVI's (which I have been calling the "Ferrus"), I shall call "Black-cheeks". The Blue & Chestnut Cones were probing for insects in dead flower heads and in crevices. Apparently cgsi[[?]] seugi[[?]] Whitestart. Whitestart flies over to another tree, 20 ft. away, and sings there. This tree has a Firebelly in it! Firebelly quite silent. The Blue & Chestnut cones do [[underlined]]not[[/underlined]] follow Whitestart to this new tree. Go on feeding in old tree, then go down bushes to feed (apparently looking for insects); then disappear down hill. Silent throughout except for a few soft "Nit" CN's. After a few minutes, the Whitestart flies to a third tree, 50 ft. away, and sings there. The Firebelly does [[underline]]not[[/underline]] follow immediately; [[underline]]but[[/underline]]it eventually drifts off in the same direction, 2 or 3 minutes later. this movement by the Firebelly [[underline]]may [[/underline]] have been largely "coincidental."

6:30. See a single Bausleuterus[[?]], [[underlined]]definitely[[/underlined]] XLI, hopping thru low scrub in semi-open area. Uttering harsh "[[underlined]]Cha[[/underline]]"s Very loud. [[underline]]Quite alone[[/underline]].

It would seem that the mixed flocks have not really formed yet this morning.

As far as I know, I have never seen any other diglosine [[?]]exactly where the Blue & Chestnut Cones were.

Then, 6:35, come across first mixed flock. Don't see first birds
