Dear PLAYBILL: Some years ago I saw a terrific Off-Broadway musical called ] Trixie True Teen Detective. The young actress who played the title role was so attractive and so talented. Can you tell me her name and if she's in a current show?
– Kenneth Brock
Brooklyn, N.Y.

Her name is Kathy Andrini. Since she appeared in Kelly Hamilton's spoof of the Nancy Drew mystery stories in 1980, she has been seen in the musical Chaplin in Los Angeles, in the national tour of Cats and in the 1985 revival of Take Me Along on Broadway. Although she is not currently in the show, you can catch her on the TV commercial for "Magnum, P.I." She is also the voice of the popular rock and roll doll, "Jem," manufactured by Hasbro.

Dear PLAYBILL: Please settle a dispute. Wasn't there a musical version of Blithe Spirit on Broadway some years ago? Can you tell me its title, leading players and the date of the production?
– Mavis J. Dobson
Great Neck, N.Y.

The musical version of Blithe Spirit by Hugh Martin and Timothy Gray was called High Spirits. It opened at the Alvin Theatre on April 7, 1964. The leading roles were played by Beatrice Lillie (Madame Arcati), Tammy Grimes (Elvira), Edward Woodward (Charles) and Louise Troy (Ruth).

Dear PLAYBILL: A friend of mine insists that she saw dancer Alvin Ailey in a dramatic part on Broadway. Is this true?
– Ted Pastene
Washington, D.C.

Your friend is correct. Mr. Ailey played one of the dramatic leads in the play Tiger Tiger Burning Bright by Peter S. Feibleman at the Booth Theatre in 1962.

Dear PLAYBILL: Where did this quote originate: "The opera isn't over 'til the fat lady sings"?
– Anne M. Liberty
New York, N.Y.

According to the press department of the New York City Opera, it was Yogi Berra. Not so says the reference department of the New York Public Library. It was Dan Cook, a TV sports announcer and Sports Editor of The San Antonio Express-News. We reached Mr. Cook by phone, and he verified this. "A lot of people are taking credit for it, but I was the first to say this. I'm always saying things like that."
