Haven to direct his satiric A Play of Giants. Richards also inaugurated a special series for playwrights to further their crafting of works in progress called Winterfest. Recognizing the need to support playwrights in finding second productions, YRT conscientiously assists the writer to find open doors in other theatres across the country, an activity coordinated by Managing Director Benjamin Mordecai.

IVAN BLOCK (Producer) produced Tintypes which was nominated for the 1980-81 Tony for Best Musical; 'Master Harold'...and the boys which was nominated for the 1981-82 Tony for Best Play and received the Drama Desk and Outer Critics' Circle Awards for Best Play; Baby which received seven 1983-84 Tony nominations including Best Musical and is a producer of The Real Thing, winner of the 1983-84 Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics' Circle Awards for Best Play. This year on Broadway Mr. Bloch produced Hurleyburly directed by Mike Nichols. In film, Mr. Bloch co-produced The Stone Boy for Twentieth Century Fox starring Robert Duvall and Glenn Close.

ROBERT COLE (Producer) is making his Broadway producing debut with Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, the rights to which he pursued and ultimately obtained from the Yale Repertory Theatre. A graduate of Franconia College with a B.A. in playwrighting and theatre, Mr. Cole helped found the North Country Players, a touring repertory company with which he played, to critical praise, Estragon in Waiting for Godot. He has worked as an actor, teacher and director and produced an Off Off-Broadway production of Godot. He co-founded, with Beatrice Straight, the Michael Chekhov Studio, an acting school in New York. He served there as Executive Director from 1980 to 1983, leaving it to pursue his Broadway producing goals. Mr. Cole lives with his wife, Laura, and their two children, Joshua and Timothy.

Mike Nichols. With his long time associate Nicholas Paleologos, he has produced or co-produced Marsha Norman's Pulitzer Prize-winning 'night, Mother, Ernest Thompson's On Golden Pond and (with his late father, Carmen Zollo) David Rabe's The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel for which Al Pacino won the Tony Award, as well as Paul Robeson with James Earl Jones. Other credits include Kevin Wade's Key Exchange in New York and Los Angeles, the national tour of On Golden Pond starring James Whitmore and Sada Thompson and Eric Bogosian's award-winning Funshoue. Regional theatre productions include David Mamet's Sexual Perversity in Chicago and Duck Variations, Michael Cristofer's The Shadow Box with Richard Chamberlain and John Guare's Bosom and Neglect.

BART BERMAN (Associate Producer), after participating in 'Master Harold' ... and the boys, The Real Thing and Hurlyburly, welcomes the opportunity to once again join Ivan Bloch on Broadway. Mr. Berman is co-founder of Film Property Investments Company and serves as Chairman of the Board for Amurcon Corporation, a national real estate development group. Mr. Berman resides in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

HART PRODUCTIONS (Associate Producer) is a newly formed, Michigan based contingent, dedicated to the perpetuation of the performing arts. Its principal members are friends and relative of the families of Walter O. Briggs and Janey and Philip Hart. Hart Productions dedicates its inception and its participation in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom to the late U.S. Senator from Michigan, Philip A. Hart.

WILLIAM P. SUTER (Associate Producer) is delighted to join Frederick Zollo again as he did on David Rabe's Hurlyburly, directed by Mike Nichols, and Marsha Norman's Pulizer Prize-winning 'night, Mother. Last season he produced Michael Cristofer's The Lady and the Clarinet with Stockard Channing.
