DESIGN FOR A LIVING
Acclaimed scenic designer Tony Staiges began his Broadway career with the 1978 production of Timbuktu! Since that time the talented artist has been the recipient of a Tony Award, the New York Drama Desk Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award, the Boston Theatre Critics Award and Richmond's Phoebe Award, among others. Pictured below are photos from several of Straiges's Broadway outings. Can you identify the shows? Clues are provided, and answers are at the bottom of the page.

1 Straiges was last represented on Broadway with this Matthew Barber play that co-starred Molly Ringwald (l.) and Jayne Atkinson (r.).

2 Straiges garnered a Tony nomination for his work on this Stephen Sondheim-James Lapine musical about some old and new fairy-tale folk.

3 Straiges designed this David Henry Hwang play, co-starring Tsai Chin (top) and Ming-Na Wen, set in 1918 - 1919 southeast China and the present.

4 Straiges earned a Tony Award for his scenic design for this Sondheim-Lapine musical about the life of painter Georges Seurat.
