30th March 1932.  A showery day, after a depression.
Greystones = [[circled]] 1 [[/circled]] - S. side of Bray Head, = [[circled]] 2 [[/circled]] Co. WI.
    Noon till 3pm. dull & later wet most of time.
[[underlined]] Bombus terrestris [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] seen at 1. [[underlined]] B. lucorum [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbols]] at 1 & 2. 
No other aculeates seen; except [[underlined]] Apis mellifera [[/underlined]] at 1.
[[underlined]] Thersilochus [[/underlined]] ? sp. ? 1 [[male symbol]] at Salix at 2, in "glen"!
[[underlined]] Cynipid [[/underlined]] beaten off [[underlined]] Salix [[/underlined]] at 1.
[[underlined]] Aphidius [[/underlined]] sp. ?: remains of [[male symbol]] in pool along old ry. at 2. 

NB. The mollusk [[underlined]] Paludestrina jenkinsi [[/underlined]] abundant with [[underlined]] Limnaea pereger [[/underlined]], [[underlined]] Chara [[/underlined]] sp., &c., in drains at foot of "cliff" along old ry. at 2 : 1/4 mile S. of tunnel!.

31st March 1932. A very cold day, NW & NE wind, rain in forenoon, dull & windy in afternoon.
Drove Fred Hollis to Leixlip in afternoon to look  for beetles. 
In Knockmaroon sand-pit, Co. DU., took 1 specimen of woodlouse [[underlined]] Platyarthrus hoffmannsegii [[/underlined]] in nest of [[underlined]] Myrmica ruginodis [[/underlined]].
Willow all well out along R. Liffey.  In sand-pit, by Sandfords Bridge over the Rye Water, Co. KD. (E. of Carton!) took one specimen of snail [[underlined]] Cecilioides acicula [[/underlined]] under small sunk stone. [[underlined]] Lasius flavus [[/underlined]] ? & [[underlined]] Myr. ruginodis [[/underlined]] ? the only hymenoptera seen!

2nd April 1932.  A fine day, after two bad ones, cold NW & NE. winds, with heavy snow & hail showers in afternoon & evening. 
Glenealy oak woods, S. slope of Carrick Mt., Co. WI. 
11-30 till 3 pm.  Very little seen though some hot sun [Left car at Glenealy school & walked up lane from church to oak wood, now being cut down to plant with conifers by forestry dept.  An appalling crime in my opinion!  East of lane the oak-wood is still untouched & includes some beautiful ground for insects. 
Saw [[underlined]] Bombus lucorum [[/underlined]] several [[2 female symbols]].
[[underlined]] B. agrorum [[/underlined]] 1 beautiful fresh [[female symbol]] on [[underlined]] Vaccinium [[/underlined]] flowers some of which were well out. 
Took one ick : [[underlined]] Orthocentrus [[/underlined]] [[male symbol]] in woods & a couple of Cynipids. 
[Heavy snow showers & very cold on 3rd April (Sunday) after a hard clear frosty night.]
