116.) 17th April 1932. A bright cold stormy (N) day & nothing flying: cloudy [[strikethrough]] of [[/strikethrough]] on hills & to the south. Therefore drove north, with D. K. Kevan (Edinburgh) to Ballinter Bridge, on the Boyne above Navan, Co. ME. Saw [[underlined]] Bombus terrestris, lucorum [[/underlined]] & [[underlined]] agrorum [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbols]] but no other hymenoptera. [[line across page]] 20th April see previous page! [[line across page]] 24th April 1932. A completely dull day after 11AM, after a clear night & brilliant morning. Cold & windy N & E in forenoon; calm & mild after 2 pm. Drove, with Palmer, to Ballyhenry, Co. WI, where sunny at 10.45 AM, but little out. Some [[male symbol]] [[underlined]] Andronas [[/underlined]] seen flying around gorse & Palmer saw [[underlined]] Nomada leucophthalma [[/underlined]] in the quarry. Also [[underlined]] Bombus terrestris [[/underlined]] & [[underlined]] lucorum [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbols]]. [[underlined]] Small White & Peacock Butterflies! [[/underlined]]. Then drove on towards Glenealy, WI & stopped at old sand pit in field 1/4 mile NE-E of Glenealy church, but no sun : one small ick seen in grass at stump but missed. Quite nice ground! Next drove on to railway crossing at Drumdangan, WI, but no sun, cold & windy. Saw [[underlined]] Bombus lapidarius [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] [[end page]] [[start page]] (117. 24/4/32 cont. For the first time 1932; also [[underlined]] B. terrestrius, lucorum [[/underlined]] & [[underlined]] agrorum [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbols]]. Palmer saw one [[female symbol]] Andrena by railway which was probably [[underlined]] A. praecox [[/underlined]]. Finally drove on to Deputy's Pass about 12.30 & stayed till 4.45 but no sun though sheltered & mild. Many ick beaten [[insertion]] ^ out [[/insertion]] of Fir, Holly, Hazel, Ivy &c. Deputy's Pass, Co. WI. [[underlined]] Bracon [[strikethrough]] variegator [[/strikethrough]] n. sp? [[/underlined]] ? 11 [[2 female symbols]]. [[underlined]] Pimpla pomorum [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]]. [[underlined]] P. elegans [[/underlind]] 6 [[2 female symbols]] [[underlined]] P. maculator [[/underlined]] many [[2 female symbols]]. [[wavy vertical line]] [[side note applying to above 4 species]] Beaten out of Spanish Fir tree ([[underlined]] Abies pinsapo [[/underlined]]) at first elbow of avenue up wood : N.E. side of pass! [[/side note]] [[underlined]] Hemiteles [[/underlined]] arestor ? 3. [[2 female symbols]] & other sp. [[underlined]] Stenomacrus ventralis [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbol]], & ? other species Picrostygeus, spp? [[2 female symbols]]. &c &c. [[underlined]] Antaeon brachycerus [[/underlined]] Dalman 2 [[2 female symbols]], 2 more missed on tray (1 [[female symbol]] to Palmer). } [[side note applying to above four species]] All beaten out of oak, hazel &c on older oak wood at NE end of pass, beside, side glen!
