27th July 1932.  Very stormy, W-NW, very warm & considerable very hot sun. 2.30 - 4.0 pm.

[[underlined]] Bombus lucorum, agrorum, muscorum, hortorum [[/underlined]] seen.
[[underlined]] Vespa sulvestris [[/underlined]] seen, on [[underlined]] Heracleum [[/underlined]].
[[underlined]] Andrena coitana [[/underlined]] & [[underlined]] denticulata [[/underlined]] 1 [[male symbol]] each.
[[underlined]] Salius exaltatus [[/underlined]] common. [[underlined]] Crabro vargus [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbols]] at stumps.
[[underlined]] Pompilus nigerrimus [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] on stump, seen. No other aculeatus seen!
[[underlined]] Tenthredo "arcuatus" [[/underlined]] only sawfly seen.
[[underlined]] Ephialtes [[/underlined]] sp. large [[female symbol]] seen at stump, but blown away by gale.
[[underlined]] Lissonota cylindrator [[/underlined]] [[male symbol]] seen to pounce on [[female symbol]] on nettle & copulation follow instantly: both captured.

28th July 1932. A calm warm day & air full of insects. Inside top of tram I saw many hymenoptera including [[underlined]] Mymaridae [[/underlined]], but dare not catch more than one or two which were near me - even then kept under observation by fellow passengers!  Also many small hymenoptera in garden on 14 Clareville Rd, DU., in evening, including 
[[underlined]] Chaenon anceps [[/underlined]] 1 [[male symbol]] clinging to leaf of [[underlined]] Carex ampullacea [[/underlined]]!
Dacnusa stramincipes? [[2 female symbols]] abundant at currant bushes.

[[underlined]] Bassus laetatorius [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] in motor house.
[[underlined]] Homocides tarsatorius [/underlined]] [[female symbol]] of the true species at [[underlined]] Thalictus "minus" [[/underlined]] (from Co. Clare).
