No exchanges were consummated during the year, although four are pending with Mr. William Shirley Fulton, Mr. Stephen H. P. Pell, the Karl-May-Museum, of Dresden, Germany, and the Buffalo Museum of Science.

Seven loans were accepted during the year.

[[underline]] SIZE OF COLLECTIONS. [[/underline]]

There have been added to the collections during the past fiscal year 7,335 specimens, and there are now in the entire collection catalogue entries running consecutively to 200,345, an increase during the year of 2,773 entries.

[[underline]] DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL ANTHROPOLOGY. [[/underline]]

The curator, after relinquishing his teaching obligations in Columbia University in the spring of last year, and after spending the summer months abroad, reestablished himself at his Museum office at the beginning of October, taking full charge again of the current and research affairs of his department.

The affairs of the department have been carried on in the usual way.

Skeletal material received during the past year comprised the following items:
