There were no changes in the staff during the year.

[[underlined]] EXPEDITIONS [[/underlined]]

Mr. William F. Stiles made a short trip among several of the Algonkian groups along the north shore of the St. Lawrence river in Quebec Province and collected some interesting specimens. We sent Mr. Bernard Edley to Mexico to collect among the Aztec Indians of Puebla, the Chinantec of Oaxaca, and the Tzotzil and Lacandon groups of Chiapas. He returned with comprehensive collections.

[[underlined]] OUTSTANDING GIFTS [[/underlined]]

Alcoa Steamship Co. Inc. -  A dugout canoe and three paddles with carved and painted decoration of contemporary manufacture from the Djuka of Surinam.

Mrs. Frances H.B. Clinch and Mr. Theodore L. Bogert -  A collection of 36 ethnological objects from the Arapaho, Chippewa, Delaware, Kwakiutl, Navaho, Papago, Penobscot, Seminole and Sioux - made about 60 years ago by their father, the late William Benezet Bogert. 

Mr. William Edler - An unusually large pottery jar excavated near Garrison, Putnam Co., New York.

Dr. Marion Eppley - A valuable collection of bows from the following tribes: Cherokee, Chippewa, Cuna, Haida, Hopi, Klamath, Mono, Osage, Seminole, Ute and Yuchi: and ethnological pieces from Eastern Canada and the Pacific Northwest - in all 27 specimens.
