Dear Epie:

I was very glad to get your letter and to know the latest news from Indianapolis. I approve thoroughly of the sample of your dress and should imagine that when you are using it that you look like a pint bottle of burgundy. But seriously, it is a lovely color.

I can well imagine how the attack that Hardey's mother had worried you, and I am glad to know that she is feeling better and hope she will soon be well enough to go home.

The box from Oregon I found home last evening, and it certainly is a marvellous treat. I came pretty near in guessing that it would be apples. However, pears are even better. I lived five weeks in Medford, Oregon once, digging an Indian mound which was fairly successful. But the town itself is most charming. It is right in the big apple and pear district of Oregon, and really the fruit is fine. The pears have to be ripened before they can be eaten, but that will only take a week or ten days. They are really marvellous in looks and size. My sincerest thanks to you both for giving me such a treat.

I am glad to say my knee is much better, although the pain in it depends a good deal on the weather. In rain, snow or dampness, it is not up to having me do much of my usual graceful dancing. Drop me a line when you have a chance, and tell me how everything is going.

Lots of love to you all, and again my thanks,
