My dear Jackie:

I was extremely happy to receive your letter with Christmas and New Year greetings and wish to thank you heartily for your thought of me. My doctor has ordered me to take it easy so that I am only now catching up on unanswered mail and want to take this opportunity to wish you the best of everything for the coming year.

The account of your trip to Scotland sounds most interesting and delightful. It must've been a source of gratification to you to be able to accomplish so much for your daughter and see her comfortably settled in her home, with such pleasant surroundings and your contribution of fine old furniture and art objects. With her natural artistic taste and her youth, I am sure Alison will be able to make the trip from South Africa as it will indeed be a treat for you to see her and your grandchildren.

The news from the Museum is good as we have had several large collections given to us during the past year and have received some very interesting and unique pieces.

Am glad to say that I am feeling pretty good now and when the weather permits, I get the Museum as much as I can.

I do trust that you are in excellent health and will look forward to hearing from you whenever you have time to write.
