Attended to and the specimens delivered to their respective curators.

Dr. Singleton was absent on account of sickness two weeks. During the rest of the time he was employed in making abstracts from the early voyages of Wilkes and others, for the Card Catalogue of the Dept. and for the proper labelling of the specimens collected on those voyages.

In the latter part of the month we commenced preparing a collection of specimens for Prof. Cheesman of New Zealand.

The only accession received was that mentioned above, from New Orleans. The number of entries on the Journal
