April 23d | 49 Bowers W. C. E.B.p. 209. | Chapel Hill N. C. April 16th 1867. Applies for an appointment as agent for the distribution of food to freedmen in his District.

April 27th | 50 Birnie W^m Agent &c E.B.p 219 vol 1. | Lumberton N. C. Apl. 22d 1867. States that Benj. W. Ivey is confined at that place for committing assault and battery. He has been told that said Ivey was tried by Mil. Commission for shooting a colored man, and that said Ivey escaped justice.

S. having returned from leave of absence and reported for duty, the services of [[underline]] Robt. Harris [[/underline]] are no longer required, and requests that he be relieved.

May 3rd | 53. Smith Anderson (Void. see S 34) E.B.p.221 | Wilson's Store, Stokes Co. N. C. Apr 22nd 1867 States that he employed a colored boy from his masters agt in 1865. When the boy became free he hired and paid him for his services. The agent now threatens to bring suit for the hire of the boy — asks advice.

May 9th 67  57. | Bartholf John H. A. A. Surg May 10th 67 - Ret'd with authority to purchase the lime. | New Berne, NC May 1st 1867 Requests to be furnished with 5 barrels of Lime to whitewash Trent River Hospital.

May 10th  58 | Bain Hope EB p 229. EB p 242. | Goldsboro, NC. May 10th 1867. States that he has been called on by a negro man in reference to two children, relative's of his, who were bought by a white citizen of that place in Jany previous to closing the war. The relatives of the children desire their custody so as to send them to school.

May 10th  59 | Bond Hugh L. May 10th 67 - Referred to Col. Edie for report | Baltimore, Md. May 6th 1867 Refers letter of W. M. Ellington, Wentworth, NC to Perry Mewburne (colored) giving information of a colored girl he [[bo't?]] in Richmond in 1860.
