 |  Ashville NC. April 12. 1868 States Sam^l  Weaver (Col'd) died on 11^th inst leaving in possession $156^50 small personal property &C.  He leaves a wife & 4 children. By request of his wife [[he/]] took possession of the property & according to the state law made himself administrator.  Requests an order authorizing him to "administer" to sell all the property and pay all lawful debts & to specify how the remainder is to be divided, or whether [[he?]] shall pay the whole to the wife or divide it among the heirs

Unsure about the personal pronouns in this. Can't determine identify of the "he" mentioned several times in relation to the wife of the deceased, so unsure if I'm transcribing correctly. Jlch
