to entirely reconstruct the storage system, but this will furnish only temporary relief. Any one in visiting the halls and space allotted to my department will see how entirely inadequate is my room, either for exhibition, storage, or the study series. It is now necessary to box up a great many things [[pencilled in]],[[/pencil]] so that the Curator can have no access to them without the greatest difficulty. 
I beg that this matter be taken into consideration at the earliest moment, as it will soon  be impossible to do anything but receive and put away. That is not only very discouraging to the Curator, but equally so to those who may wish to enrich our collections.
