for the last two months has been given to the preparation of a standard museum series of label-maps and other work not in my department. Mr. Burger has been drawing a series of illustrations for a paper which I am preparing for the next annual report. Mr. Shindler, so far as he works for me, has devoted himself to the series of race types. Mr. Mills has but lately entered upon his duties of modeler. At the suggestion of the Director of the National Museum my working force has taken up the subject of [[underlined]] labeling [[/underlined]]. A large collection of labels has been sent to the public printer already. We have gathered from the department of labels a series of those on hand and attached them to the specimens whether they are on exhibition or not. This is to prevent
