During the month of February the Department has been specially engaged on the Pueblo material.  Permit me to call your attention to this.  We have a remarkably rich mass of specimens specially illustrating the religion of the Pueblos.  No information accompanies these, and I would respectfully ask, that Major Powell be asked to allow Mrs Stevenson to spend a month with us dictating the proper legend for these things.

Again, Mr. Bolles discovers that there are very many specimens wanting from the Wilkes Collection.  They are numbered in the books, but the specimens cannot be found after the most diligent search.  These may have been sent to other museums, if so, all record has been lost.  Mr. Brown cannot find any reference to the matter.
