Ensign Bernadou U.S.N. has been interested in preparing a catalogue resume of his Korean collection in which he has received much assistance from the staff of this department.

The Curator spent four days in New York examining the collections and in attending the Folk-lore Congress, a report of which is appended.

During these two months 3,000 specimens have been received, commencing with 151,475 and ending with 151,650.

The system of exchange is still going on and we have received excellent material from Mr. Henry Balfour of Oxford; Mr. Redwood of Baltimore and Mr. Savage of New York.

Through Dr. W.L. Abbott we have a large collection from the Chgga around Mount Kikimanjaro, consisting of swords, knives, assagais, bows and arrows shields, war-bonnets, ornaments, fur-robes, baskets &c.

The Museum was so fortunate as to secure through Mr. J.C. White of the University of West Virginia, a very beautiful specimen of wood carving from Fiji Island, an oil vessel in shape of a bird resting on the back of a human figure on all fours, inlaid.
