The Algonquin family formerly inhabited the southern and eastern drainage of Hudson Bay, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia the Atlantic slope of the U.S. as far south as the 35th parallel, the regions around lakes Michigan, Huron, and Superior, and almost the entire drainage of the Ohio river.
