Dear Sirs:-

We have in our Antique Section,a most extraordinary Louis XV old Marquetry desk, which we think will be of interest to you.
This desk has evidently been made and designed for some great French Admiral,or,for the Minister of the Admirality of Louis the XV,as the inlay,in colored woods, is all in nautical devices, such as,compass, flags, chart, cannon, anchors, and the elements of Fire and Water. It is mounted in hand cut ormolu bronze, and is in fine condition. The back is finished as handsomely as the front,so that it can be used in the center of a room. Its [[underlined]] intrinsic [[/underlined]] value is fully as great ,as the desk ^[[,]] ^[[ ( ]] of which we have a picture ^[[ ) ]] with the King of Sardinia pedigree ^[[,]] which you bought for $27,940.00 at the Kraemer sale in Paris,in April 1913. It is the same general shape, and we think has been made at the same time and by the same maker.

Our Antique Section also has a remarkable stock of about seventy fine old tapestries.
Hoping you will favor us with a visit of inspection we remain

Yours very truly,

JOHN WANAMAKER NEW YORK.
