The work done by this reduced force during the past six months has been as follows:

1. The regular correspondence of the office, which employs the curator two hours every day.

2. The gathering of descriptive material for a comprehensive account of the industrial or inventional life of the American race. By the combined scholarship of the world all the American linguistic stocks are tolerably well known. The tribal systems and sociological data have also been worked out.
