Went hunting this forenoon. It was cold and saw nothing but Horned Larks. Sat down at the wind and watched a pair of white breasted Nuthatches. Farther on I saw one Hairy and one Red-headed Woodpecker. On my way home,

a pair of Prarie Horned Larks sat on a fence and did not stir until I was 5 feet away and then they only dropped down in the grass. It was hard to see them because their backs were brown.

Mar. 22, Thursday
At noon four of we boys were out by the cistern. We were talking and laughing when suddenly the Male Downy
