Today the Male Downy Woodpecker came to the suet twice. It was snowing hard. The wind was in the east and he kept on the west side of the tree.

This morning I saw an English Sparrow eating snow in the little elm.
A White-breasted Nuthatch was singing

in the maple. He perched crosswise on a limb. He would stretch up while giving it and lower his head as far as he could reach without toppling over and then bring it up with a jerk.

March 27, Tuesday.
It is quite chilly this morning. Before breakfast I heard a Bluebird calling. It gave the fall note.
A bluejay gave a note like [[squiggly underline]] si cat eli [[/squiggly underline]]
