My dear Mr. Breck:-

To facilitate the article for your bulletin which you are to write on the Wallace-Murray Scott Collection, I beg to give you herewith a brief statement of the curious change of ownership of the part of the Wallace Collection which we were fortunate enough to secure.

The first thing which is of real interest is to realize how unjust it is that this great collection should be known under the name of Wallace Collection, considering that Sir Richard Wallace had practically nothing to do with its formation. 

Sir Richard Wallace, as you probably know, was a half brother to the Marquis of Hertford, and the Marquis of Hertford who was unquestionably one of the most enlightened Art connoiseurs, not only of his days, but of all times, is the one who made this famous collection. For any one, who like
