The works of Benedetto and Santi Buglioni in glazed terra-cotta are frequently confused with those of the Della Robbias. Fabriczy in the Rivista d'Arte and bombe in Thieme and Becker's Lexikon have listed a few of the works of the Buglioni, but the present Monograph is the first serious attempt to present, by the aid of documents and photographic reproductions, a full picture of the life and works of these two sculptors. The monuments are arranged chronologically in decades. They include some well known works, such as the celebrated frieze of the Ceppo Hospital at Pistoia, as well as many obscure monuments published here for the first time. The volume contains 148 illustrations and is enriched by the publication of many new documents transcribed by Mr. Rufus G. Mather.
