My dear Mr. Seligmann:

Replying to your letter of December 29th, the fact is that the Sevres cabinet does not please Mrs. Schiff and does not fit well into the house. The only place where we can utilize furniture of this kind is the drawing room and there is no available place for it there. Under the circumstances, I prefer to take advantage of your father's kind offer to let me return it. Please, therefore, do not keep it for me, but consider the transaction as annulled.

I enclose herewith a bill from Lebrun, which apparently was sent to me in error.

I take this opportunity to wish you a very Happy New Year, and am, with cordial greetings,

Very sincerely yours,
^[[Mortimer L. Schiff]]
