I the undersigned declare that the jewel which
is shown on the photograph, with my authentic signature, which is also affixed to this sheet, is from my property.

The above mentioned jewel represents a Siren,
in gold and variously colored enamel. The bosom of the same consists of one pearl and three others are attached below and pendent. In the middle of the body is a large emerald and the rest of the precious stones are rubies
and flamminghi.

This object belonged to the noble family
Montalto, which family was received in the order of Seras and is mentioned in the Golden Book. (The Golden
Book was a register of the most prominent families of the Venetian nobility.) The family Montalto, which had for a coat of arms a silver shield and three red pales,
had inherited the object in question from the noble family Finelli.

About the year 1700 the noble Paterno Castelli,
a cultor of antique art and passionate archeologe, while searching ( for relics) in Florenz, had occasion to acquire this piece, which passed on to his heirs, from which it came into my possession.

Maria Antonietta Paterno-Rizzari fu Emanuele.

This is the signature of Signora Maria
Antonietta Paterno Rizzari fu Emanuele, of my
personal aquaintance, and this signature has been affixed in my presence.
