The Pan-Hellenic Council

The Pan-Hellenic Council, organized in February, 1942, is an organization whose members are drawn from each Greek letter group in the school. Its purpose is the fostering of better relations between the various sororities and fraternities. It also serves to promote school spirit by uniting Greek organizations on the campus, and serving as a link between these organizations, the student body, and the administration.

All directions pertaining to the conduct of common problems considered by the council, and blanket regulations are issued periodically to all contributing groups. One of these consisted of regulating the semester of residence before a person is eligible to pledge a sorority or fraternity. The Pan-Hellenic Council determines the period, and extent of ballyhoo of fraternal initiations. Dr. Harry S. Blackiston, the sponsor, has held that office since the organization of the Council of 1942.
