Beta Delta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority

Beta Delta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is the oldest Greek letter organization at Stowe. This sisterhood was founded in 1932 by a group of women deeply concerned with the development of traits of finer womanhood.

Beta Delta is prominent not only on the campus but in the community as well. The music contest, ideal Stowite contest, and a presentation to the highest ranking graduate are some of the older projects conducted by Beta Delta. Recently the members volunteered their services to the librarian.

Beta Delta is responsible for the establishment of a student trustee fund for the aid of students who need financial assistance to tide them over difficult situations; to this end monetary contributions are made. This past year Beta Delta also contributed a sum of money to the children confined in Homer G. Phillips Hospital.

The Ivy Leaf Club is composed of seventeen girls aspiring for membership in the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

One of the most active organizations in the school, its members give their services in the school library and school office at least one period each week. Semi-annually, the club presents to the student body a play. The production in December, "The Old Maids' Association," was well received. Promoting sisterly fellowship within the group, the Ivy Leaf Club eats together in the school cafeteria every third Monday of each month.

One of its members, Dorothy Holt, was the recipient of the pin awarded for first place in the annual Music Contest in May, 1944.
