Dr. F. D. Patterson,
Tuskegee Institute,
Tuskegee, Alabama

Dear Dr. Patterson:

When I read the morning paper this morning, I found a cause of both gratification and regret. The State and the people of Alabama as well a Tuskegee Institute will miss you. I shall miss you, too.

Nevertheless, it is wonderful that you have the fine position in front of you with the Phelps-Stokes Foundation. I know you will do a great job there, as you have done in Alabama, so I feel I must congratulate you even while so sorely regretting our loss.

With kindest regards and every good wish.

Sincerely,
