March 24, 1953

President F. D. Patterson
Tuskegee Institute
Alabama

Dear ^[["]]Pat^[["]]:

I am sure that I shared heavily something of your emotional and personal feeling when I read about your decision to retire formally from the presidency of Tuskegee. I say, "informally," because I know that, in spirit, you will never be separated from this grand institution.

The is merely a brief note, coming out of the heart of a friend who has admired you over the years for your integrity as a human and as an educational statesman, and to wish you all the possible joy in your future professional and personal endeavors.

Sincerely,

Felton G. Clark
