Dear Dr. Patterson:

I was surprised when I picked up the paper the other morning and saw where you had "made the front page." First, I want to congratulate you on receiving this recognition from the Phelps-Stokes Fund and they certainly are getting an outstanding man for the job that will be yours but you are worthy of any honor, I am sure, that they can bestow on you. Your fine work at Tuskegee will be duplicated I know in you new undertaking. Certainly Phelps-Stoke's gain is Tuskegee's loss and I am glad to see that you will continue at Tuskegee until your successor is found. I want to extend to you my personal good wishes and the good wishes of those of our organization who know you and wish for you much success in your new position.

I was very much interested in reading the newspaper account of Tuskegee's history and the fact that it has had only three Presidents since it was founded. It certainly stands high in the educational field.

With best wishes and kindest regards,
Yours sincerely,
