^[[symbol for paragraph]] [[underlined in red]] L.Belding, Stockton, San Joaquin County, California.--- [[/underlined in red]] ^[[1 m]] Collection from the neighborhood of La Paz, Lower California: Ar-row and spear-heads (some very fine), and 1 human skull and 10 bones. I take from the letter of Mr. Belding the following:--- ^[[ [[rectangle]] "]] The skull and bones (which are probably those of the ancient Pericues) were dug out of coarse dry granite sand, in a cave, or over-hang-ing rock, at a Rancho called Zorillo, 20 miles north of Cape [[encircled]] St. [[/encircled]] Lucas. They were neatly wrapped in cloth made from the fib[[strikethrough]] re [[/strikethrough]] ^[[er]] of the agave --- three-ply cord, made as sailors plait sennit."
^[[ - symbol for paragraph]] [[underlined in red]] H.F.Emeric, Guayamas, state of Sonora, Mexico.---[[/underlined in red]] ^[[1 m]] [[encircled]] 2 [[/encircled]] celt-shaped implements, 2 shuttle-shaped do., 1 ornamented reel (?), carved from slate, and 1 amulet of alabaster (animal-shaped), found 6 1-2 feet under loose rock and on the original surface. The Indians here do not know anything concerning the relics, and there are no signs of a mound where they were found.
[[underlined in red]] Rev.Samuel Lockwood, freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey.---[[/underlined in red]] ^[[1 m]] [[encircled]] 1 [[/encircled]] cast of human head carved in stone. The original, found within a mile of the shore of Raritan Bay, Monmouth County, New-Jersey, was loaned by Mr. Lockwood for the purpose of making a cast at the National Museum. ^[[symbol for paragraph]] [[underlined in red]] A.Fairhurst, Lexington, [[strikethrough]] Kentucky [[/strikethrough]].--- ^[[1 m]] [[/underlined in red]] Collection from Knox County, Indiana, and from Clark and Bourbon Counties, Kentucky Arrow and spear-heads, hammer-stones, polished celts, grooved axes, 1 pierced tablet, and 1 ceremonial weapon. The celts and grooved axes in this collection are very good specimens, as are also the ceremonial weapon and pierced tablet.
