Early in April it was decided to provide appetizing and nutritious lunches at Birney to aid the child in his striving towards a good health goal. Through the efforts of faithful parents and teachers in preparing and serving the lunches, this program has provided the children with much enjoyable fare. The parents shown at work here are Mrs. Susie Ward, Mrs. Betty Ashton, Mrs. Sallie Dixon, and Mrs. Estelle Shorter.

Working together here are parents from the kindergarten classes sewing buttons on the children's artists' smocks. With the able help of Mrs. Vera G. Alexander, sewing instructor of Margaret Washington Vocational School, and her class, the smocks were cut and sewn. Shown placing the final touches on the smocks are Mrs. Martha Alston, Mrs. Vermelle Middleton, Mrs. Virginia Fielder, and Mrs. Colleen Franklin.
