SAYINGS
Phyllis Diller Gags. PICASSO
DEC/1985
To repeat is to go against the forward movement of the creative spirit.

Transcription Notes:
I do not believe Picasso is an author of this quote unless it emerged for posthumous publication 12 years after his death. I am guessing it is a false attribution for comedy like the Confucius Say jokes because Picasso is part of the gag line and is not in parentheses like Horace Walpole on other cards. Actually, Horace Walpole was not an author of the gags either unless that is a pseudonym distinguished from the 4th Earl of Oxford. I of course am not one hundred percent sure and invite further fact checking because I would love to be certain or find a story.--Possibly this is a quote from Picasso (and the other from Horace Walpole) that Diller typed on to a card in 1985 and wasn't necessarily said by Picasso in 1985 @hannabred/NMAH team
