[[strikethrough]] I. [[/strikethrough]] GENERAL REVIEW OF THE YEAR'S WORK.
[[strikethrough]] -------------------- [[/strikethrough]]
The general character of the work for the year ending June 30th, 1889, has been much the same as in former years; the same, and yet not the same, for there have been many changes and much extra work. It has been the same in the reception of the same general kind of implements, their inspection, classification, arrangement, entering and numbering as formerly. But there were the added duties incident to the Cincinnati Exposition, which opened July 4th, 1888 and closed November 15th, 1888, the investigation of paleolithic implements and of rude notched axes; but above all in the increase of the clerical work of the office. The number of implements received [[strikethrough]] to [[/strikethrough]] to be catalogued and displayed has been largely increased, and likewise the number of objects sent for examination and report.
