A. L. Benedict, 86 W. Huron St., Buffalo, N.Y. Dec. 24/88.

This grooved implement is very rare in New York---has two hammerstones and two corn-grinders in his collection. Has seen a few others, grooved. Encloses sketch and description of one in his collection. It was found on Canada shore of Lake Erie about 5 miles from Buffalo; the material is sandstone and it is roughly chipped from a flake; 1 inch in thickness, but thinned down to an irregular edge. Found at a beach-camp, similar to several others along the shore of the lake in connection with a few arrow and spear-heads, netsinkers, flint chips and pottery.
