[[underlined]]HATS[[/underlined]] (revised)
(ENTRANCE FROM AUDIENCE - SING "ALL OF ME")
That's the way it is when a singer is asked unexpectedly to sing. They're never ready. But it's an entirely different matter when they know they are going to sing. They come on very strong. Like Hildegarde:
SING: The little things you used to do - the little things you used to do - the little things you used to do - the little things you used to do.....
TALK: He was such a small man! Then you can always tell a torch singer because she has always lost a man. These girls have the worst luck with men. I could never be a torch singer because I have [[underlined]]never[[/underlined]] lost a man! I never had one.
SING: I cover the waterfront - I'm watching the sea - Will the one I love - please come back to me.
TALK: If he goes back to [[underlined]]her[[/underlined]] it'll be because he forgot his shoes! Then there's the singer that's [[underlined]]really[[/underlined]] prepared! The lead from the big broadway musical production. She's kind of a vocal Pollyanna - the Glad Girl of show business!
SING: Falling in love with love is all that I ever do - falling in love with love is Winnie the Pooh! This is the kind of a girl who when she breaks her leg - says: I've always wanted a broken leg! UGH! - then from the same production as the Glad Girl - is the Bad Girl. She is so bad she's good.
SING: Fireman Joe Magee - married in June - wants to be free - He built a handsome lovenest - but his high-flying spouse - likes the firehouse -
TALK: I think she's so bad she's bad. There's the more classical type - the Red Velvet Voice.
SING: None but the lonely heart - can know my sadness. Alone and parted far from joy and gladness.
TALK: She uses Drano. Nature girl lives on Vitamin pills and carrot juice.
SING: Ashes to ashes - and dust to dust - if you don't like my figure take your hand off my back.
TALK: A real opposite type from our Vitamin B Girl - is the winsome singer.
