In the afternoon went to river with John Weaver & picked up some [[Unions?]], [[Sphacriums?]], [[Carlycarlin?]], Anglers, etc.

Then went to the Williams gravel pit, now worked for 5 yrs or more. It is located on a second terrace, & shows a [[?]] mass of cross [[border?]] sand, gravel & a little silt. The sand has black streaks (MnO2) Coarser material is mostly at top. There is almost no [[dressing?]] [[insertion]] ^ (soil, etc.) [[/insertion]] on this. In one place I found what appeared to be a fragment of a thin shell (blue body [[whorl?]] of [[Nicroma avama?]] or something of the kind.
