Heard several Robins. 3 were sunning themselves in a dead oak.
The Vesper Sparrows are quarrelsome now and chase each other around. Came across a flock of about 25 Whitethroated and Song Sparrows. They had their headquarters in a gully filled with stumps. They were quite peaceable
The White-throats sang a little. They began with a loud [[underline]] [[I, d, d]][[/underline]] and ended with a low whispered [[underline]] peabody peabody[[/underline]]that I could scarcely hear.

A Great Horned Owl hooted twice.
A Robin attempted to sing. It was much broken up. They called to each other and were gathering to Roost.
They fought with Bluejays and with each other. Saw a Phoebe. It flew into a tall basswood when it saw me.
Heard a Song Sparrow sing. It was as clear a song as ever.
Saw two Flickers giving the [[underline]] whick ah [[/underline]]note.
Some Robins were hunting on a piece of greensward that lay in the shade.
