Dear Cam,

I've struck oil at last!  Found the place of my desire since old enough to have any worth while.

Out here in northwestern Honan where Chinese civilization began and where Buddhism (in A.D. 67) had its first introduction in the Flowery Kingdom one might expect to see things -  Well, I am not disappointed.  Here two mountains are seperated by a narrow and swift running river - the cliffs of rock rising abruptly from the water are pierced by hundreds of temples and grottos, into which thousands of most ^[[beautiful]] Buddhistic figures [[strikethrough]]on[[strikethrough]] from 2 inches to 60 feet high have been carved out of the rock.  These deities are surronded by flying angels, foral arrangements, scroll and other designs, all, also carved in the rock - these were done about 1500 years ago.  When ^[[the]] sculptors quit, the painters tackled the job, and , finally, when everbody had passed in their checks, nature completed these masterpieces by softening [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] lines and tones.  Tradition and imagination have played their part - and I have free rein to enjoy
