Dear Cam,

Your delightful letter is like a whiff of old-time Yondotega air - full of feeling and interest in matters connecting friends and life - things of value!  Thank you for all, especially the remembrance.  While Tom Way, in the newspaper article, is made to lie about Whistler's memory, no one can criticise your thoughtful memory of an absent friend.  While you say nothing about it, I feel sure that "Yon-" members are indebted to your usual thoughtful attention to necessities, for the printing in becoming form, of Charlie Swift's refreshing elucidation of "the Yondotega Spirit, a copy of which came with your good letter and received a hearty welcome.

How fine a monograph itis- and how the eternal boy in Charlie plays between every line?  And in playing in
