many of them are not very obviously hostile. He tends to utter BB's in among his S Trll's and M and/or MGB-like Notes, while he is clinging to the side of his cage his nearest me. He also usually or always tilts his head backward a little, "looking upward", when he utters a BB. This latter movement may be purely "mechanical", a physical necessity in order to produce the sound. But it does tend to enhance the generally non-hostile appearance of the BB's. Many of ℙ's BB's, in fact, are quite reminiscent of "Lost Call" patterns.

ℙ certainly defaceates and urinates [[underlined]] less frequently [[/underlined]] when alarmed, especially when picked up, than either Howler Monkeys or Night Monkeys of comparable age and degree of tameness.

[[underlined]] Cebus capucinus [[/underlined]], I November 9, 1960
Barro Colorado

We caught a wild Capuchin about a week ago. Adult. Has been kept in outside cage by itself. Today I am going to count its comfort activites, and more or less similar or related reactions, including "displacement" activities. Using same method as in count of Night Monkey comfort activities (see notes on [[underlined]] Aotus [[/underlined]], Aug. 6, 1960).
