Prof. Geo. F. Atkinson of Chapel Hill, N.C., prepared and presented a series of the southern variety of the Common Chipmunk, [[underlined]] Tamias striatus [[/underlined]].  A similar series of Richardson's Spermophile, [[underlined]] S. Richardsoni [[/underlined]], was presented by Mr. E.E. Thompson of Manitoba.

The Museum is indebted to Mr. Daniel C. Beard for the storehouse and nest of a Field Mouse, [[underlined]] H. leucopus [[/underlined]].  Good specimens of the rather rare Mountain Beaver, [[underlined]] Haplodon rufus [[/underlined]] and of the Dusky footed Wood Rat, [[underlined]] N. fuscipes [[/underlined]] were purchased from Mr. A. Todd of Elk Head, Oregon.

[[underlined]] Central and South America [[/underlined]].  By far the most interesting accession from the West Indies was a living specimen of the Almiqui, [[underlined]] Solenodon cubanus [[/underlined]], which was probably the first example of the species ever brought alive to the United
