1. [[double-underline]]F. A. Ward[[/double-underline]], Rochester, N.Y. - Called attention to a specimen of Hutia Rat, [[underline]]Capromys[[/underline]], supposed to be from Brazil which was in his stores. The specimen was subsequently purchased for the Museum.

2. [[double-underline]]Dr. R. L. Walker[[/double-underline]], Carnegie, Pa. - Wrote transmitting a photograph of deer antlers.

3. [[double-underline]]Dr. Sheldon Jackson[[/double-underline]], Bureau of Education (Sitka, Alaska) with whom some conversation and correspondence was had regarding Alaska mammals, promised to send some to the Museum, but forwarded only the skin of a Spermophile during the year.

4. [[double-underline]]Major Timothy E. Wilcox[[/double-underline]], U. S. A., Ft. Huachuca, Ariz., has sent in many interesting specimens from time to time from the vicinity of his post. During the year he sent a skin of the skunk, [[underline]]Conepatus[[/underline]], which has only recently been known to inhabit that state.

5. [[double-underline]]Prof. F. L. Harvey[[/double-underline]], Maine State College, Orono, Me. sent some shrews.

6. [[double-underline]]Mr. B. J. Bretherton[[/double-underline]], Newport, Oregon, sent mice which he wished identified.

7. [[double-underline]]Mr. James Storrs[[/double-underline]], Portland, Oregon, was requested to collect some moles for the Museum, and forwarded one during the year.

8. [[double-underline]]Dr. W. L. Abbott[[/double-underline]], who has been mentioned so often in this report is far and away the most valued and interested correspondent of the department. He continues his explorations in Asia and Africa and has sent in extremely valuable collections from Eastern Turkestan and other parts, of which mention is made in the earlier parts of this
