A yellow pinched Holly was seen, also red fruited winter-green bushes. Small gentians were in blossom of a light blue color. A very small leaved, thickly spiny species of Berbery was common also. In the afternoon we followed a lateral valley & climbed up the cultivated fields of dry corn stalks, turnips etc to its head at 10,000 feet where we camped at the spruce forest above which rose a
