hind legs were tarsal glands.  The lachrymal pit was deep but no large & the gland quite small.  The whole underside of the tail was covered by a deep brown liver colored gland nearly to the tip.  I went out this morning with the hunters who were accompanied by 7 dogs, 3 white ones, a gray one & 3 black ones.  They were not able to follow trails but seemed to depend on jumping the game.  I bagged a [[?]] adult [[symbol: male]] muntjac the first hour but the dogs were not on its trail & even my 3 shots did not bring them.  These deer are bright red & as conspicuous as Stembok which they resemble in habits keeping always in cover.  This one stood in the bush of a hillside 100 yds away & I hit it behind the shoulders but it soon got up & ran down
