Dear F.G.:

I duly received your cable about Isarlo's comments re the Le Nain painting. As disappointing as it may be I prefer to have it come before than after, and the only thing to do is to forget about it. Namely, as I wrote to you the matter of the Le Nains is subject to a great deal of controversy and whereas a recognized painting is fine, one without the confirmation of the so-called authority is a drug on the market.

You wrote to my that you were about to leave for London, and I hope you had a pleasant and interesting trip.

Your letter, or I should say your few lines of November 22nd., do not help me very much.

GOLD PLAQUE: You write you did not show it to anybody. However, you had the gold contents checked, and if my memory serves me right you showed it to Carl Dreyfuss and I believe also to Andre.

COYSEVOX: About these busts you write they are still at the casters. Why not tell me until what date. This is not just idle curiosity but as I intend going away for two or three weeks towards the end of the month, it is a question whether I will have to give instructions for their arrival or not.

By the way I have not heard a word from your friend, Christoph.

Much love,
